Il titolo "equivalenze" incoraggia ad interpretare la relazione indicata comepanurgo ha scritto:la domanda è ambigua: le tre risposte possibili sono 81, 100 e 121
$5\left( {\text base}\, 10 \right) \times 6\left( {\text base}\, 10 \right) \equiv 33\left( {\text base} \, 9 \right)$
per analogia
$100 \left( {\text base} \, 10 \right) \equiv 121 \left( {\text base} \, 9 \right)$
ma, il teorema $5 \times 6 = 33$ è vero in base 9, cioè $5\left( {\text base} \, 9 \right) \times 6\left( {\text base} \, 9 \right) = 33\left( {\text base} \,9 \right)$, e con questa interpretazione si ha
$100 \left( {\text base} \, 9 \right) \equiv 100 \left( {\text base} \, 9 \right)$
la terza possibilità è, ovviamente,
$100 \left( {\text base} \, 9 \right) \equiv 81 \left( {\text base} \, 10 \right)$
